Museum of Fine Arts Boston STEAM Team

The STEAM Team is a pre-college summer program at the Museum of Fine Arts Boston that has sought to expand who has access to learning over their lifetime by offering a select cohort of teens from the greater Boston area the opportunity to engage with the MFA in a truly innovative and meaningful way. The program built upon the STEAM education platform (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art + Design, and Mathematics). Guided by the Museum’s Teen Programs Manager, a dedicated part-time STEAM Coordinator, and MFA professionals across departments, this program has been a pathway for students from the MFA’s existing Teen Arts Council to continue their MFA involvement and education with a deeper, more curriculum-based focus through experiential learning projects and pre-professional exposure. ILI  assisted the MFA in understanding the impact of this program, not only on the youth themselves but also within the community and MFA staff.
