Museum of Fine Arts Boston STEAM Team
The Museum of Fine Arts Boston (MFA) STEAM Team is helping to change who has access to lifelong learning by pioneering a pre-college year-long fellowship program. STEAM – science, technology, engineering, arts, mathematics – is a national priority, particularly the recruitment and retention of underrepresented communities to employment sectors under the STEAM rubric. This program seeks to broaden participation in STEAM through experiential learning projects and pre-professional exposure. Building off past STEAM education workshops that the MFA has offered for teens in collaboration with partner organizations, and informed by data from Teen Arts Council members to gauge their interest, this is the first program in the nation that engages teens with museum experts across STEAM disciplines. It provides teens from the greater Boston area the opportunity to engage with the MFA in a truly innovative and meaningful way.
