Debbie Siegel Ph.D.

Senior Researcher

Based in Bend, Oregon, Debbie Siegel is a learning scientist with a Ph.D. in developmental psychology from the University of California, Santa Cruz. Throughout her career, she has had numerous professional positions within academic research, applied research, and evaluation examining formal and informal learning experiences. Taking a sociocultural approach, in her work, she emphasizes studying learning and cognitive development in naturalistic, everyday interactions, and contexts. Using both qualitative and quantitative methods, she has focused on examining everyday family interactions as a valuable and important source of learning. Recently, Debbie has worked in partnership with museum practitioners, librarians, and STEM professionals to explore youth and family STEM learning, engagement, and persistence in rural communities.
